Signalization / Signals
How does traffic signals work?
Our traffic signal installation is comprised of a controller cabinet with the use of a variety of traffic light heads, gps, video detection, illuminated signs, loop detection, traffic monitoring, and dms signs.
Traffic signals run under a variety of different modes which can be dependent on location and time of day, allowing the opportunity for minor side road flow to enter or cross congested road ways and with adjacent developments.
Traffic signals also include cycler lanes and pedestrian crossings keeping a safe desired crossing and right of way. When planning a new intersection or road way we use fdot design standards and pay items for proper work installations and technology requirements needed to accomplish a build.
Roadway lighting is a way to increase a driver’s visibility and other roadway users. Properly designed lighting system allows road users to quickly assess roadway and highway conditions, broken down vehicles, and making street signs more apparent when approaching, thus making a safer environment within the roadway vicinity. Here at FIE in Sanford Florida, has many times over introduced new technology to old fixtures to help reduce life span and cost.
Intelligent Transportation Systems
ITS improves automotive safety and mobility through the integration of advanced communications technologies into the transportation infrastructure and in vehicles thru all FDOT Districts. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) encompass a broad range of wireless and wire line communications-based information and electronics technologies. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras are used today to increase true real-time monitoring, surveillance and first-hand incident detection thus making the appropriate notifications regarding the incident to motorists, police, emergency personnel and other incident management partners.
